Herb received his Bachelors Degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and has been involved in the banking and computer services industries in the Metroplex for over 25 years. He is uniquely qualified to understand the complex workings of a sophisticated computer system and, consequently, how it can serve the most important judge of a system's effectiveness -- the user.
He has designed, programmed, and implemented numerous systems including demand deposit, savings, and certificate of deposit. Having provided sales support, employee training, conversions, and internal and external security, Herb has been involved in every aspect of data processing. He has served as an expert witness in several litigation support cases including a major computer manufacturer, a municipality, and a data processing service company.
Specific projects he has worked on include:
- He was called upon to connect an NCR TOWER 700 running UNIX to a NOVELL Network allowing the PCs to emulate CRTs. The connection had never before been accomplished and required using three different software packages. Upon completion, the PCs achieved a faster response time than the CRTs directly connected to the TOWER.
- While managing a disaster recovery hot site, Herb designed a master plan for a bank data processing organization. The plan included all phases of the disaster recovery from the initial telephone call until the organization was once again operating on their own computer hardware.
- For Citicorp Remote Computing Services where he served as Data Center Manager, Herb designed and implemented one of the area's first advanced demand deposit and savings accounting systems, managed a staff of 25 employees, and was responsible for all customer contact.
The combination of expertise and people skills that Herb has gathered over the years makes him a valuable resource in developing and servicing computer systems and local area networks. These assets are significant in helping an organization operate at its highest levels of profitability and efficiency.
