Since joining Philip Vogel & Co. PC in 1979, Doug has had extensive experience in various auditing, accounting and tax fields with particular emphasis on financial institutions, retail trade, apparel manufacturing, and homeowners associations. He also is experienced with auditing public companies and SEC reporting, and has served as an expert witness.
Doug is director of technical quality control of the accounting and auditing practice of the firm, including performing all pre-issuance reviews, updating technical manuals, performance of annual internal inspections and maintaining compliance with professional standards. Philip Vogel & Co. PC was a charter member of the Division for Firms (SECPS and PCPS) and has always received an unqualified peer review report.
In his role as Chief Financial Officer for the firm, Doug is responsible for the firm's administrative functions which include: the use of computers and information technology within the accounting, auditing and management services of our practice, and the continuing education programs for the firm.
Doug has served as a director and is currently a vice-president of the Dallas Chapter of the TSCPA. He has also served on the quality review committee of the TSCPA. Currently he serves on various committees of the Dallas Chapter of the TSCPA and the TSCPA. Doug is an active participate in the Dallas Chapter's technical assistance program for local area CPAs, and is also is a member of the National Retail Financial Executives Association.
Doug recently completed a three-year appointment as a member of the Peer Review Committee of the Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS) division for firms of the AICPA, and serves as Chairman of the Peer Review Committee for CPA Associates, an international association of CPA firms. He has performed several reviews under the SECPS, PCPS and Quality Review programs, and has served in many oversight roles over peer and quality reviews.
Presently, Doug is currently involved with the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and serves on their Education Committee-he is a graduate of the "Leadership Richardson" program. Currently Doug serves on the boards of: Leadership Richardson Alumni Association, Leadership Richardson Youth Leadership, Neighborhood Youth Services of Richardson and the American Heart Association (Richardson Division).
